About Us

Lawrence Community Care is a veteran owned and operated, single provider medical practice.  We support our nation, we support our troops, and we want to support our community.

Meet our Provider & Practice Owner: Kevin Ferrell, PA-C

Kevin Ferrell, PA-C, has a diverse patient care background with over 30 years of experience. From his modest roots as an emergency room (ER) technician and respiratory therapist, to serving his country as a military flight medic, he has always made it a priority to help others. Kevin’s varied medical experience includes military assignments as a combat medic, helicopter medic, and Physician Assistant during multiple foreign exercises, overseas deployments, and duty stations (Japan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, Poland and Denmark).

After graduating Physician Assistant (PA) school in 2015, from Western Michigan University, he headed back to the ER as an Emergency Medicine PA. In 2019 he began another period of full time active-duty military service as a medical officer with the Michigan National Guards’ 51st Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support team. During this period, he continued to work part-time as an Emergency Medicine PA with Corewell Health system.

Working as an emergency department healthcare provider, he has seen firsthand what regular people go through when trying to navigate the ailing, and often defunct, healthcare system. Medical providers are constantly being pressured by big insurance companies, hospital corporations, and the government to see more patients in less time and to do more with less. Providers are even told which tests can or cannot be ordered and which treatments are authorized. These entities are not looking out for the best interest of the patient. Knowing this, he realized that it is time for a change.

He formed Lawrence Community Care in 2022, and began offering house calls and telemedicine on a limited basis to the local area. Looking to the future, in 2023, he purchased a commercial building in downtown Lawrence and began remodeling. After 32 years of service to his country, Kevin officially retired from the Army in January of 2025. He decided that he will dedicate his next form of public service to the community in which he lives. In March of 2025, along with his wife, Rachel, they opened their doors at 119 N Paw Paw St, Lawrence MI.

Kevin is a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Although both he and his wife’s roots hail from the South Haven area, they have been members of the Lawrence community for almost a decade. When Kevin is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and participating in many outdoor activities like camping, hunting, and fishing. He is looking forward to providing compassionate, confidential, and affordable care to our area citizens, small businesses, and their employees.

Meet our Practice Manager: Rachel Ferrell, B.S.

Rachel and Kevin have been married for over 18 years and are both from southwest Michigan. Although Rachel has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, she chose to stay home and care for our three boys during my multiple military deployments. Now that the children are grown, she is using her skills to help breathe life into our joint venture, Lawrence Community Care. She cannot wait to meet you and help get your healthcare needs addressed. So, say hello when you call with questions or make your next appointment.
